Guys,
advice please, Ive been riding for a number of years, no expert, okish, I have a gs and I have recently become very tempted with taking it off road, Ive struggled along some forestry paths and the like. I would not describe myself as a natural and need some tuition. I have looked at the BMW sites, I work in the public sector and to be honest its a blimmin lot of money........ Are there any schools down here near the smoke that would be useful? Oh and under £400????

I'll be doing a beginners off road day at Tidworth/Fighledean very soon. Will get a date when some off road gods can help out. No cost, all free.

Hi folks,

I may have to ask you to excuse my ignorance here, but as I'm a recent convert to the Dual-Sport cause I am interested in a gentle, beginners offroad day. However, I wonder if my kit would be suitable.

Currently, I have a pair of Alpinestars Supertech boots, and a Frank Thomas textile jacket and trousers, along with leather gloves and a Shoei XR1000 lid. Is this suitable kit?

Not sure about the Alpinestar race boots though.....

I don't have any others Captain. I had a slow speed crash at Christmas time in a pair of Oxtars, broke my leg, and thereafter resolved to get the most protective boots I could actually walk in (which is why I have Supertechs rather than Tech 3's.).

Would the boots be totally unsuitable? I do realise that it's well outwith their design spec!

Did you break your leg wearing THESE on a low speed crash?

Nope. A pair of Oxtar TCX Matrix 2 Goretex boots. I think if I'd had those boots you showed on I'd have been fine...
