I fancy (feel in need of!) some off road guidance/tuition. Does anyone know of www.langdalequest.co.uk or had any experience of them? Aparently they got good reviews in the 4x4 mags and also have a trail riding capability. Any views?
like you Ive first heard of them via the 4x4 lot. I know that you can take your own vehicle or hire theirs at extra cost.
I know you can take your bikes on their tracks/course but I dont know about hiring bikes from them.
I must admit that I am interested in doing the same, as my last (only) venture was so frightening but really enjoyable, so a little training or instruction might not go amiss.
My next door neighbour has been with i2i, says it was fantastic. Thanks for the link. I was thinking in terms of maybe getting out on the trails for a few hours and getting some pointers. I have difficulty with ruts in particular but there's loads I'd like to get more up to speed on. When I started riding road bikes I just rode with better riders and picked it up. (Advanced driving helped).
But I was out the other day with a few guys and on one stretch where I was having difficulty just keeping upright one of the guys came flying past on his back wheel!
I know how you feel, I went on the good friday ride across the moors with hulltraily and I lasted about 200 yards, in a rut chasing the quick boys, a quick fish tail, then arse over tit, thanks for coming
Must admit has knocked my confidence a bit
I not in any kind of position for giving advice on riding but if you ever fancy a ride out give us a shout, I check the site usually daily eek:how sad is that)
not too sure of where to go but pretty good at following

Are you on about the cars or bikes? My wifes family have done this twice in the 4x4's. I can ask them what it was like if you want.
I did this http://www.yamaha-schools.co.uk/ at Bolton which was very good and very tiring if you're not used to off road riding. Certainly cheaper than another off roading school who's name escapes me
Bikes. I have a Yamaha WR250 and would now like to learn how to use it properly. I went on the Good Friday run too, had about six layers of clobber on and still froze my **** off!
Try CCM, I did a CCM off road day a couple of years back. We started just north of Windermere, road through the mountains to little Langdale, then on through to Coniston for lunch, very challenging for me as a complete novice and superb lanes, trust me. I had my Waterloo after lunch, went down a bank in to a small water splash, hit a rock under the water and went straight over the handlebars… and that was the end of that
