I have found a place in Moyvalley that is setting up a track where they will do 4x4 & quads. Now when they are not doing these courses they are looking at opening it up to the public. I had a quick run around it last week & there is about 70 acres of off road land. There is a possibility of every level of off roading challenge from easy on a big trail bike like my v-strom or a GS to bits that would challenge the full & proper dirt bikes.

So I am trying to find out if there would be some interest in the big trail bikes to go & use this area for a bit of off road fun?
What would you be willing to pay for 1-2 hours or a full day of 6 hours?
What days & times would suit best?

I am only trying to see what the interest would be like for a set play ground for big trailies?

I'd be interested...

Watchin this thread very closely..... in answer to your queston, I'd have thought €20 to €30 would be acceptable for a few hours on a track, I dunno :nenau ??

Excellent idea though.:thumb2

theres a track outside Doon near Athlone,it has a motocross track and a easier area for other off road bikes,
the guy charges 25 euro for a day which works out at about 6 hours
i have contact details if anyone is interested (not trying to steal the tread just passing on info)

I would pay for such a service as lots of lanes are been "changed" in Dublin/Wicklow area.

sounds great as be ideal have somewhere leagl concidering all the "lanes" in ireland are tech illegal for bikes to use

Hey all,
i am trying to get some more details on this. The place was ment to be open already but I went up during the week & the gate is closed off saying no access as construction in progress.

I am pretty sure that you will be able to use any bike that you like, it should be suitable for all bikes from moto cross to the bg trailie bikes.
I have just got a set of TKC80's for my old F650 so I can't wait to get out on it :D.

I will let you know when I have any more information.

some update

OK. so this place took a bit longer for them to get ready than originally thought. I was just up there on a Yamaha YZ250F, my new toy :D, & it was great crack.
Now I was on a nice light bike & it was sliding all over the place. There is a lot of slippery mud everywhere & lots of puddles, some bigger than others & some VERY BIG ones.

I would highly recommend that if you are bringing a big bike that you have good tyres on it that would cut into the heavy wet slippery mud, the likes of TKC's. I think that even the Tourance tyres would have a lot of trouble in this mud.

If you have a smaller bike this would be a good time to get it out but if you are feeling like a challenge & want to use the big bikes there is always a quad bike somewhere on hand to help pull any bikes out of those BIG puddles.

At the moment the cost is about €30 for the day off roading, this may depend on numbers but should not be more than €30. There is a canteen where you can buy tea or Coffee when you are having a bit of a rest.

So now the time has come. Next Sunday, 6th Dec, Who wants to get down & dirty??? :bounce1 :bounce1 :bounce1

Let me know if you want to come along & what bike you want to use.
