Done the search, lots of good info available. Just thought I'd stir yer brain cells a wee bit and see if anyone had anything else to say about the region.

Rosyth > Zeebrugge > BadenBaden > Zurich, to pick up Lou > Stelvio > Trieste > Croatia > Montenegro > Maybe, ferry to Ancona Italy > back up the road.
Three whole weeks.

Croatia

I spent a few days in Croatia in April on my way down to the Red Sea...there are a few photos in my blog on

Really had no\problems there except the crap hotel I chose in Zagreb. The Julian Alps and the coastline south are great, as is Montenegro although Kotor accommodation is v expensive.

You'll find more in the ride report. PM if I can help further.

make sure you book /check the ferry times.
some winter sailings are only a couple of times a week.
take food /drink on the ferry,:D have fun.

Croatia is a lovely place to visit. Some of the scenery is spectacular. It will be very hot at this time of year so get an early start, take in the views and settle somewhere in the shade before the mad dogs and Englishmen come out.

Try to get away from the main tourist track. Go to the bars & restaurants used by local people. For example, in Opatija, the restaurants on the coastal strip are very nice, have excellent service and a price to match. Very little atmoshpere though.

Go a block back from the coastal road and find lovely places where the chef will come to talk to you, the owner will recommend places to visit and there will be no pressure to feck off so they can get another sitting in. The bill will be pleasantly small, so leave a big tip.

try the island of krk, great roads etc, if going through black forest don,t speed , one of the lads with us last week was fined 1500 quid for doing 260 kph in a 50 ph limit daft twat, we know but it is tempting, but enjoy youself

Watch out for many speed traps in villages. The coast roads are invariably full of diesel spewing trucks and there are many no overtking sections. If you do overtake, there's a good chance a policeman will be waiting for you!

Don't overlook the inland mounttain roads, these are must quieter and certainly a lot cooler than sticking behind traffic on the coast roads.

I second the recommendation of Krk - very nice, providng you don't mind the scenic view of the powerplant on the mainland :augie

Have fun!
