Wanted a curvy route and boy did today come out curvy. But not in a ‘well ridden GS’ way but more bimbly curvy prob more suited to pottering a la Himalayan, vt85 or AT bike way. Some roads were lovely and fast flowing but loads had scenery and…

Now relaxing after a good shave in Donzenac. €12.60 includes WiFi and toilet paper. Now suitably nicked

PS. To draw cash at a credit Agricole bank now wants 5€. I’ll buy bread at the supermarket across the road on my card. So far have not used any cash. Plastic all the way.

Sid's nickname is Crapaud, which I believe is French for Toad.

Sid will correct me if I'm wrong (or Arsey will), but I think I'm right in saying Sid comes from Jersey. There are toads on Jersey, but not on Guernsey. I believe the local nickname for those from Jersey is Crapaud.

Happy to be corrected.

Correction not required - all correct. And us Guerns are know as Donkeys. For all the reasons you can think of.

Carry on please.

Epic ride from Brive la Galliarde. Route said it was going through Rocamadour but didn’t. Anyhow saw a lot of picturesque scenery, rural farms some light drizzle and a good coffee in Gramat

Roads were awesome. Route never messed up, or if it did I didn’t notice. Only took one photo. Didn’t stop for lunch either. Nothing open except Maccy D. And that ain’t adventuring.

Not sure why but hey ho! Arrived at campsite just outside Tours. Dropped kit as office was closed Kept wondering why the perfect, shady, soft pitch was empty.

Anyhoo, trundled to carrefour for supplies on foot. Got thinking about all the cyclists arriving. On return checked the camp notice board….doh. The pitches were all reserved for cycling velo Loire club.

So moved and then set up. 280 miles, 9 hours, numb numb bumb! Peaceful for €10:80. No toilet paper and cold showers. Thank heavens it’s like 32 degrees!

No he’s not speeding just me blurring him. Arrived with all kit strapped to bike. No panniers- I guess he do Tesco?

Lovely little town where I was. Suppose next time I should really venture beyond watching campers unpack and argue over pitches.

Nice cross country roads. Empty except for remnants of hay floating along under wheel. Are the French on holiday or closed down from Covid. Either that or I have been plotting routes so far off the usual routes that nothing is open! Struggled to find a place for coffee today. That and pic nic places in France are like hens teeth. Either they don’t do pic nics or can’t be trusted with a test stop area and litter ?
Ended up with a home made sandwich in a field. Nice field mind.

Belting it down an empty D road, curving to the right some type of bird of prey took off from the left side fence post if I’d have been going straight I could have caught him I’m left hand as his evasive manoeuvre was to turn towards me, not veer away. I had a nice close up of his talons and brown covering swooshing past my left bar end🫣. Then as I merged onto another D road, I have it a little too much gas and nearly low sided as I lost the rear to hot, slippery banded tar. Anyhow all in a stride. Now in a well located hotel, bike out the door with easy access so no lugging gear too far and a quick get away. It’s a premier inn.

Carrefore just behind and a petrol station. Very convenient.
Top tip. Motolegends carrier bag for shopping and style

Well, well, fancy.....every day is a learning day on here. Cheers Tufty :bow

Enjoyed that trip Don....thanks for taking the time to post up. :clap

Sid. I need to ask about his nickname . Today was long one. Only supposed to be 350km. Somewhere the planned route got unplanned and being as stubborn as I am I had to ride cos I planned it. So ended up cutting across to join it somewhere. Ended up 300 miles and 8 hours riding. Stupid is as stupid does but hey ho, who knew Blois was such a nice city. Also didn’t stop much to take pics cos that would have meant stopping for coffee and piss and faff. If I’d planned it I’d have known to piss before entering city centre! Lunc was a farmers platter. Including a freshly pulled onion! He wouldn’t mind

Arrived at MY campsite. Yep it’s bloody empty. Bar empty. Campsite 2 campers (1 Brit and fat kid) right next door to bogs and empty swimming pool. Oh I swam and splashed to cool off. €12.60. No toilet paper either.

Feel sorry for all these businesses with no clientele. Roads are devoid of bikers , caravans and Zefiras with ten kids! Checked tomorrow’s route. Seems good. Seems to be the same. Off to brive la galliarde. Oh, so far only used m way for 11 €.
