I have been searching and can't find anything on a BMW site or previous Web page, but I need to find a list of approved tyres that were approved by BMW from 2009 onwards.

I can find stuff by going onto Bridgestone for example and their splurge stating their xx model is suitable for the r1200rt but I need something from BMW stating it.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I'm pretty sure that BMW will just specify size and spec (speed rating etc) of tyres for a particular bike, not the type and manufacturer.

Not a great help, but this is from page 139 of the owners manual for my 2013 TC:-

You can obtain an up-to-date list of approved tyres from your authorised BMW Motorrad dealer or on the Internet at "www.bmw-motorrad.com".

As you've tried the Internet, I guess the next port of call is to ring your local dealer.

Best of luck.

The info is at bmw-motorrad.co.uk. its in the service and maintenance section, then go to the tyres section. It explains how to tell which model you have.

Incidentally, I have Michelin RP4's on my RT but won't be getting any more due to poor mileage on them. :thumby:

BM's usually come with a range of different brands fitted... It's the size, profile and rating that matter... As bikes get older, the tyre options will usually improve with tyre development...

You will probly find that whatever tyres the dealer is selling is approved as they tend to trot the official line. Jjh

In 2009 I recall Bridgestones, Metzeler, Conti's & Michelin all being OE fittings. I've always assumed the manufacturers don't like to put all their eggs in one basket, so to speak, so use a number of manufacturers.
