Offline map download

Has anybody used maps offline ?
I’ve got a couple of days riding in the Andes next month where there’s no phone signal .
I’ve downloaded the whole of Chile for offline use but am hoping it’ll just work . Will be a tad buggered if it doesn’t !

If I turn my phone to airplane mode and zoom in on Chile, no maps appear

Just used it in Sicily with downloaded maps on the MRA app and it worked perfect for me.

Is it set to offline mode?

I have used offline maps in France, in the beta version of the new app. The glitch I had was a beta problem, nothing to do with the mapping, which was fine.

Really easy to find /s
Ive already done that as shown above in my screen shots but if I turn phone on to airplane mode and zoom in on a map that I’ve downloaded for offline use there’s no detail until I re-enable data on the phone .

Never checked mine like that have used downloaded maps a few times Sicily last week and also used it in Scotland Stalking a few times where coverage was very sketchy.
If you have made a route have you actually downloaded the route on MRA as well.

Sorry. I missed the screenshots

Just tested it on mine and it’s not working! I zoom in and the detail is poor and then offline navigation fails.

So I checked again and my offline map was missing when I reinstalled it and go into airplane mode and then when I pan around the map I get a slightly lower level of detail but if I press and hold on the map it creates a route to that location.

Further testing it’s the minor b roads that don’t show up offline. If I stay close to my default home view that loaded whilst online 3 b roads stop randomly at the edge of the loaded box

Don’t forget you can’t create a route offline

Neither can you search for stuff then calculate a route. I’m not sure you can even navigate a saved route - I think the offline maps are just to reduce data fees.

Unless I’m doing something wrong, of course!

Not sure if its relevant but on the MyRoute forum, a recent post recommends that following the last update some Members were experiencing difficulty with offline maps, the problem is cured by deleting the old offline maps and re-installing - maybe worth a try before your trip just in case!

Ok ta but I’ve only just downloaded Chile

I’ve got Maps.me as a back up as that’s what I was told to use back in 2017 when I last rented a bike there
