I was paid up and booked in with Burt and Stu from Adventourers, for a two day offroad weekend in Wales.
The weather forecast was fab and everyone else had cancelled at short notice. I gave Burt the opportunity to cancel the ride, but he was determined to continue. The opportunity of two expert tutors was too good to miss, so off we went.

Loads of pics in this report, I'm afraid, so don't continue if you have a slow browser.
Here is Stu with his KTM 990S:

Here is Burt embroiled in route discussion with Stu:

A nice easy track to start with:

But early on Stu encountered unexpected difficulty:

Stu's bike was not going to make it without everyone getting wet feet.
Proof that we all made it (by going around the flooded track):

Burt was determined that we had to do our first ford so he walked it:

Then attacked it:

We then dried our boots

and headed deeper into Wales

We rode Strata Florida as far as I could cope and the intention was to stop when things became too difficult. The early section was within my ability, but after a couple of miles of easy stuff,it became more and more challenging

We stopped at the site of aTragic 4x4 accident in September 2008.
It was sad to see flowers and a teddy bear at the site

It was time to end Day One , find our b&b and a nice pub for dinner.
Oh... and dry our boots !

Day 2

Refuelled, with a full English Breakfast it was time to reload our bikes

After a long uphill rocky section, we arrived at the scene of an offroad accident, someone had broken his leg and the air ambulance was just leaving the scene
Any GSer's from this site know any more ? I note the HP2.
This sort of incident is a reality check

The 4x4 ambulance was a bonus and note the clump of earth on my bars!

There is a sheer drop next to our bikes and this photo does not do justice:

I must thank Burt and Stu for such an exhilarating tour of mid Wales and without their assistance and enthusiasm I would not have seen so much of this beautiful country

I have learned loads on this trip and extended my abilities under their supervision.
Top marks to their professionalism.:thumb

Great pics and video - I recognise that first bit of water... here's what happened when we sent Louis through on his better halfs bike:

GrinningGSer,

Excellent photos - the tour was great, you were a joy to be out on trails with and the weather was fantastic as well.

We'll do it again soon and I'm sure some of these excellent photos and video clips will find their way onto our web site.

Thanks for a great weekend - I'm sure Stu said we covered over 165 miles of trails and off the beaten track riding.

Burt

That looks like the lake at Elan Vally in the Black Mountains. been wanting to go there mayself when i get some time...

Great pics :thumb

Spot on Timpo :thumb

Mav, I am wetting myself laughing

Cracking photos Paul (GrinningGSer), I'm green (lane) with envy :tears

Over two days we did a total of 165 miles of trails and off the beaten tracks up through Mid Wales.

Great pics! :clap

Funny that we didn't meet you once - you seem to have ridden exactly the same lanes I as I did with the big trailies (although we did Strata Florida on Sunday).

The casualty on the Piano Keys was indeed one of ours... :tears

Glad you had a good time without any injuries! :thumb2

We did see you on the trails - we turned up on the Piano Keys just as the air ambulance was leaving. We took it steady and we all came home unscathed.

We also ended our tour further north by Aberdovey.

Burt

GrinningGSer, not wishing to take anything away from your report & your superb photos but you moved me to get out today & take some photos as I alluded to in post #5.

In post #5 I asked where that photo was taken & Timpo (as usual) had the answer & you confirmed it. :thumb
Location pinpointed on my GPS & it was a 200+ mile day.
I packed all my gear - phone, tools, cash & camera & set off.

A few miles in & I realised although I had tools & materials to fix a puncture I had no means of inflating a tyre. :blast
Anyway, I soon forgot about that as a few miles later my GPS packed in!
I was near Llangollen so I thought back to the UKGSer ride out & remembered a scenic ride along the Llantisilio mountain so I headed out to where I thought it was.
Rode around for hours but couldn't find it without the GPS. :blast

I got a few photos from today but the good news is the GPS works OK indoors so I recon I have a breakdown in the bike's power lead somewhere.

Thanks for the inspiration to get out today. :thumb2
