bloke comes round to view my bike - he's VERY interested.

but the ABS won't set on ride off. FFS !

need to sort it today, did the reset thing and it won't reset.

ABS lights are blinking alternately with ign on .

Voltage is 12.35 - i think it could be the battery, i'll pop a another one in later and see if that works.

on the plus side, he said he'll buy it if i get the abs working

You will regret parting with the 1100, bet the battery will sort it though

I'd be fairly sure its the battery. when My battery was on the way out the abs light would flash, stopping and re-starting would clear. Soon as I put a new battery on it was back to normal.

Ha ha, the GS is still here - just. Waiting for my new bike to clear registration, possibly today. so I still have one more ride on the GS left

I might leave it on, having an 1100 gains respect!

We'll have to hang around in the lesser know section soon, our other bikes

Flashing alternately with engine started or just when ignition on. I thought battery probs were when started and alternates?

new battery, fully charged with all the right volts in all the right places and it still won't set.

I've done the middle connector to earth trick, i've diconnected the battery for 30 mins. i've checked the sensors resistance at 145 ohms.

i've made sure the brake light switches are working, i've checked the rear light bulb is working both filaments.

Turn ignition on and the abs lights flash alternately at about 1hz - which all the web sites say should be a simple voltage problem or just a reset

As you say, alternate flashing at key on indicates either a stored fault or a power on self test fail. When you do the reset you are holding the abs switch down for 8 seconds are you?

I think your next step is probably to try and read the ABS fault code - apparently you can do this with an analogue multimeter between the abs pin and ground (I've not had to do this myself but others on here have).

i think i'm getting code 1, or the voltage drops to 10v then zero once every 3 seconds or so continually

take the starter cover off put jump leads from a runing car (just ticking over)

Positive onto the UPPER connection on the starter solenoid and negative on the exhaust clamp just below

let the car run for 5 mins to stabilise volts

then turn on ignition and try to clear the fault

Make sure your earthing point is a good contact and that there is no verdegras inside the diagnostic socket

let us know how ya get on? I seem to remember from dealer days that if there wasn't sufficient charge the controller wouldn;t clear

Also do you release the ABS button Prior to turning off ignition??

Remove ABS switch and check the wires are still attached and making contact!!! and no broken wire in that bit of the loom

Hi Phil, from memory with mine if I did a bump start down a hill it would often work whilst not when using the start button. Less drain on the battery at start up I suppose. Was a long time ago for me now so maybe I should just go and get my coat...

Have you ridden it since it kicked off, you don't say...?

Mine threw a six after I'd washed it off a couple of years ago and the thing wouldn't reset. I rode it anyway...20 miles later it settled down, never had the same problem since....

Battery charged overnight, voltage at 12.5 with ignition on rising to 14.2 on engine start - all good.

jump leads from a car - done

bike ridden after every check - no 'clacking' to set.

abs lights flash alternately all the time.

i've even tried drinking beer to get some real insight.

If the ABS lamps are flashing as soon as the key is switched on then you have a stored fault which you'll need to know what it is

And that means a diagnostics at the Dealer

Tell him to break the Moditec back out of mothballs cos the comets and teh old systems weren;t that happy with each other ion days gone by!

dropped in at the dealers on the way into work this morning and they stuck it on the computer.

25 mins later and after a test ride it was proniunced that the front sensor was faulty and a new one was $360.

gulp - ok - order it in and if it cures it , i'll have it. ( no choice )

got on rode away and the ABS RESET itself - clunk,click, the lights went out



guess they reset it somehow but still got an error message

i may do a pass on the new sensor
