Over the last week unnoticed by me 'till today, i've lost the ability to send and recieve emails, my account is with microsoft office live/hotmail and my domain names wre transferred to them a few years back.

Now i look on the internet and it appears office live are withdrawing some of their services, could this email issue be something to do with this? I've not recieved any notification ( as far as i know, but i'm not the only one in the business to answer mail)

Any solutions from anybody pleeeeeeaaaasssssseeeeee:nenau

Simple english please, february is a hard month normally but it will be all doom and gloom if i can't get emails soon!

Can you access the settings of the account still so you can set up a divert?

If you can, you could create a set of email addies at your jeannettesengravers.com domain and divert anything that came in to whatever your hotmail address was to that.....make sure you set the reply address to appear as the new one, so gradually it'll take over as the new 'proper' address as people reply to you.

If you can't divert them and they're stopping the service, you're going to have to set up the new email accounts and start using those......one thing I'd definitely do IMMEDIATELY is back up your contacts list as fully as you can....if you do have to start using a new email system, at least you'll be able to send each and every contact that you've got a new email with the new, correct address in it so they know.

I don't know about hotmail I'm afraid....to me, a hotmail address just looks like a dodgy temporary address used to register with porn sites :nenau

EDIT.....TRY HERE and use your login and password, you may well be able to pick up all of the last few week's worth of missing mail from the server :)

Can't you just redirect your domain name to another email account or is it hosted by Microsoft?

My names are with a "pure" host (for my uses) and if I ever change email provider I can just login and change the redirect.

Totally agree with the contacts - I'd be tempted to export to a CSV file.

Microsoft moved from Office Live to Office 365 starting last April, you will need to setup an account with Office 365 and migrate your email/website/domain names from Office Live to Office 365.

Hi hugh, thanks, is it a simple job to do? Or would it be better to get a tame geek to do the job for me, normally this kind of stuff fries my brain.

Could be quite simple, or a bit fiddly, depending on how cussed Microsoft are being.

I tried it before last March, and all I can say is it was a right PITA. MS moved my domain reg's to Melbourne IT who were useless. There was no easy way of 'porting' the old web pages across. MS really shot themselves in both feet with this IMHO. I even told them as much on the phone after they tried to help, and the CS woman agreed :tears

I ended up dumping MS and went elsewhere and started from scratch after weeks of frustration & toil... happier now though:D

Sorry I realise I am venting and it won't really help you much.

I'm happy togo elswhere, originally i was with another host but some little shite in yellow pages decided i'd be better off with MS/hotmail, so we tansferred the domains over at his recomendation, up till now its worked ok really, we've had the odd hiccup but nothing like this!

Check out www.luxsci.com

I've been using them for a while now and no hiccups. Their support is great too. The support is the problem with Microsoft/Google/other big players. When I signed up with Luxsci, the support guy led me through the entire switching process while talking to me on the phone.
