Oh dear, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Good question, wet weather is coming by Thursday, but it would have been good to keep going if it stays dry.
I’m still thinking Ouistreham, but Wessies idea about an overnight from Le Havre has much merit to it

it's bad enough riding a motorcycle over the Pont de Normandie in a storm. I would not fancy walking or cycling over it in bad weather. It is very steep and high in the middle.

What a day !
I was away by 08.00, and within 10 minutes I was at the bottom of a long steep hill. Oh bollocks I thought. Never mind, bottom gear and get on with it. At the top I had to turn right, so I do. Soon I have to turn right again….BUT…. I see on the map there is a dotted line going straight on eventually joining the route again saving quite along distance.
WHAT COULD POSSIBLE GO WRONG :nenau
Quite a lot actually. After a down hill section it got very steep. Very difficult trying to keep the speed down on a steep descent on grass. Not nice.
After the first hour I had only done 4.5 miles, but I settled in to ride, as the morning progressed my average speed improved.
This was helped by being on the D925 again. Generally heading to luneraay, and on to Yvetot .
I stopped at Yvetot for a bite to eat and decide on where to next.
I remembered the comment Wessie made about the Pont Du Normandie so had planned to cross the Seine on the pont Du Botonne. Once again I was sidelined on to rough tracks on a ceouuple of occasion's. I’m getting better at checking out options before go on them.
On one track it was awful, but the alternative was a lot longer so I continued. I eventually crossed the river and decided on an overnight halt.so I’m now at pont Audemer after cycling 59 miles.
A nice but tired hotel, but with some good points. The bike is indoors in the residents lounge, and both water bottles are filled and in the freezer and I’ve had 2 free beers. Now for the bad news, it’s a public holiday today so most places are shut. Don’t know where dinner will be from. All in all a pretty good day 👍

It's Bastille day today in France. It sort of is a bank holiday, sort of not. Some businesses may be closed, but generally all the usual eateries will be all open to allow people to 'acknowledge' the day. It's not really a celebration apparently.

Keep pedalling :popcorn

McD by the Intermarche is bound to be open ... plus a French Taco shoppe is bound to be around somewhere, and one of those pizza robots.

Is amazing how welcome a sun standard hotel and a shit dinner can be….

What a great trip, keep on keeping on but go steady. 👍👍

Excellent write up and well done on those hills, would have done me in. Have you checked the paved roads only option in Cycle.Travel?
