I was setting off to the Picos in 3 hours time, supposed to be going to Morocco because the log book for the new bike hadn't arrived.

It's only went and fecking turned up

I've 2 weeks, 5 days remaining of hols and a massive operation is now under way to get going to Morocco in a couple hours. :D

There is one snag. My driving license has a different address on it to the log and passport. Is this going to be a problem? I will need to buy insurance at the border.

Frantically getting ready and awaiting an urgent reply!

Urgent Reply

I'm urgently waiting for a server to re-boot. But I've not got any idea about your problems.

Have a nice holiday though - it sounds like you need a break from all the stress...

I don't know about the address problem, but the insurance office at Ceuta is closed. AFAIK there's one at Tangiers.

There will be little that a few extra sheckles wouldn't sort at the border:nenau

Have a great trip and ride safe no matter where you end up

nice and helpful there...

no experience of traveling into Morocco, but I'm guessing its like all borders everywhere, if you have a good enough story, why would it be a problem?

didnt think your passport needed and address - so any address there is surely next of kind.

Driving licence should show your home address

reg docs the registered keepers address - there is no reason you couldnt live in both locations is there???

DOH... yes, sorry have a great trip!!!

It is not a law or offence that all the address must match on every piece of paperwork.

Don't cause yourself any unnecessary problems by bringing it anyones attention.

Cheers Steppers and others. I'm going. If I don't get in there's always the Picos... but I will get in.

Bikes fully kitted out but I don't have enough water or fuel capacity at the moment to do the run from Merzouga. Got an hour to fix that one...

Hair cut. :augie

Medical pack, which is somewhere in Brian Elands Disco. :D

Packing spare wheels & tyres on the back and changing at a camp site I know on the EP-1 or what ever its called. Not changed them on the 650 before hope it's easy.

Book ferry.

Get down to mates in Bradford for 6pm for a piss-up and set off in morning.

And roll...

It makes no difference whatsoever- I take 8 vehicles at a time through and only one of them has my name on the V5-none have the correct adress- they don't even look at it, as long as you have the V5 itself :)

As mentioned above, the Insurance office at the border of Sebta/Cueta IS CLOSED.....if you have to get insurance at the border, you'll need to go via Tangiers and there are three portacabin booths selling it before you leave the port area.

If you go through Cueta, the head Douane guy will tell you that you can get insurance at the office in 'the next town' which isn't very helpful, and is fine until you run into some kid and spend the rest of your life paying it off 'cos you didn't have insurance :blast

I suspect that there is an insurance office in Tetouan, but I haven't been able to confirm this yet and for the next few trips, I'll be going through Tangiers instead :(

BTW, here's an alternative for you to try.......

Stop off in Malaga or anywhere there's a large Ex-Pat community and go to an insurance office there........you can buy short term (IE a month) European insurance policies that give fully comp cover (and breakdown cover believe it or not, worthless though it may actually be) in Morocco.

The hitch is you can't have an English policy out at the same time so technically, you'd have to cancel your English insurance.......but :augie

EDIT.....The reason I said in Malaga is 'cos you'll find loads of insurance companies staffed by English people catering for the Ex apt Community there, so you'll have no problems explaining your needs.

Have fun Andrew - looking forward to the write up if it's anything like as entertaining as your last visit to N Africa :beerjug:

Andres
