Looking at replacing the suspension on my 09 GS. Read through most of the threads but any up to date (2016) info on the Ohlins ESA setup much appreciated. Do they still need the separate control unit on handlebars or have they sorted the problem with the ESA fault code I've read about. Any news or users of the Wilbers system?
Thanks

Had Wilbers ESA fitted, so much better than original both solo and two up with luggage. System works as before off handlebar switch. Through revs racing who were very good to deal with. Buy with confidence.:beerjug:

And think what you could do with the money you would save. . . .

Thanks for feed back.:thumb2
Any one had some miles on this setup. I do 8 to 10000 a year and so how it lasts/performs is important. Thanks

Ted I have only done about 4000 miles on them but over all road types and loaded,am off to that there Europe soon will be doing about 2000 more miles. Only do about 7000 miles a year these days, lightweight I know. :D

I've just had Wilbers ESA fitted too.I do about the same miles as you,and expect them to last the distance, only done a few 000 miles so far but it's a huge difference. They have a 5 year warranty too and can also be rebuilt.Much cheaper than Ohlins I believe.:thumb2

I'm looking to upgrade too, but think I'll move away from the ESA system and go manual. More adjustment potential, easier to fit, less to go wrong, better resale value.

Hi, I put Wilbers on my 07 GSA (Non ESA) a couple of months ago, Great improvement on the old standard BMW units, I found that one up all was good, handles well. However 2 up with luggage excellent a vast improvement Last month did a 1500m trip around France and Spain noticed a big difference well worth the expense. Revs Racing vary helpful.

Had wesa fitted 18 months ag on my 08 gs and done 17 k since two up mainly
And it's still as lush as it was when fitted , I will take to revs for a service in the winter though .
Would I recommend hell yeah ,but only if the bike is a keeper because of cost :thumb2

To maintain the warranty, Revs expect to service Wilbers shocks every 15K
Personally I think that's fair.
With ESA/WESA they replace the shock and Spring but reuse the OEM BMW ESA motors. brackets etc.
The ESA system works as before because - it is the same parts that came off the bike.
