Hi folks,

Title says it all really, struggling to price these.

They are Ohlins shocks front and rear for the R1100GS, think they’ll also fit the R1150.

In my opinion they are spares or repair, must be about 20 years old and I have no record of them being serviced in that time. Also the damping adjustment on the front doesn’t seem to ‘click’ as I would expect it. Open to suggestions of how to price them to clear out my shed…

Cheers

You’re probably looking at £250 each for a full service to get them back in decent order. New they’re probably about £600 each now, if you can get them. If I were buying them I’d want to be paying about £450 for the pair. I’ve had Ohlins on most of my bikes and they are worth good money for sure.

New ones are £1600 a pair now I think 😳

Speak to Richard Maxton at Maxton engineering. Used them for years on all of my GS’s. Quality product and exemplary customer service

I can also highly recommend Darren @ MCT in Suffolk. Rebuild price sounds about right at £250 per shock as long as nothing major is wrong with them - i.e. they need only a service. What weight of rider/pillion they're set up for can play a part - if the new owner needs them re-springing it's probably an extra £100 per shock. I've bought used shocks in the past (Ohlins and WP) and to my mind they have to be quite cheap to make them attractive (purchase price, sending off for a rebuild and setting up for new owner's weight, paying for that rebuild, still 20 years old with no warranty) vs buying new (a few hundred more expensive but they're brand new, built to the new owner's spec and with a warranty). But if budget is limited that makes the used route an easier decision!

Based upon the age and description I'd think maybe £300-£400 would have made them attractive to me when I was looking but there's always demand for Swedish gold so pitch them higher as KMD suggested and see whether you get any bites.

I can highly recommend him too! :thumb2
I bought a pair second hand and got him to rebuild them before I ( Mikeyboy ) fitted them. He rang me up after I sent them and said the rear main shaft thing had a tiny pin head sized hole in the chrome plating ( or whatever it is ) and gave me the choice of either sticking with it, saying it may last a few years, or replacing it whilst he had it in pieces. I had it replaced but appreciated the honesty in not saying it HAD to be done there and then. Top bloke and a great service.

I’d probably sell them as they are because anyone fitting them will probably need the spring up / down rating anyway. They will need work before fitting.

hi Cammy I’m interested in buying them for my 1100 please

Thanks for the responses folks. I’ll stick them up at £300 for the pair give the condition and work required and see if there is any interest / takers.

Appreciate the advice.

Cammy

That’s a very fair price Cammy. Don’t let anyone bid you at that, they’re worth it all day long (y)
