Sorry Phil, I'll be keeping the WP shock - quite happy with it. The shop I got it from only do suspension - nothing else and they recommended the WP over the Ohlins. Having had Ohlins on my Adventure, I can say it's definately easier to set up when switching between road/offroading than the Ohlins one. The WP is £ 650, so a little more expensive than the Ohlins and it took 2 months to arrive which is about the same amount of time I waited for my Ohlins from Harris. With the WP I can also buy a fitting kit for it that will let me fit the same shock onto different bikes - no need to buy another complete unit - just a fitting kit.

A happy bunny:bounce1 and have fun in Libya - kick some KTM ass :D

Libya desert challange

Mr Tickle .......very little at present , took the bike out on a mx track last week and found out the bike is too soft for agressive riding no matter how I set it up, hope to change out the front fork springs and change the rear shock, need to get a bit more range out of the bike, will probably carry spare 3LT on the bike.
set up the road book and ICO meter and thats about it
have got new mousses and Deserts , I am told that one set should last the 8 days . the best deal I can get is a wilbers shock for 800 euro, ( about 500 stg ) , I am afraid of the standard shock if it blows , the bike will drop and leave me stranded in the desert , at least with a spring shock you should be able to limp out

sorry Phil, I edited my above message - realized that it was wishful thinking entering at this late stage )

If I were in your boots I'd also be concerned about the air shock but on the good side, from all the HP2 videos I've seen, they do seem to take a lot of abuse. I know what you mean though.

Air shocks are not innovative, well maybe on bikes. But they have been used in cars and trucks for a long time. I wouldnt imagine an air shock would blow (Tickle might), at least a newish one. Have there been many failures?

Mind you, I broke my standard Ohlins in Turkey, the rear part of the shock eye broke off. This was due to overloading. Some poor turk had to weld it back on (I hid from a safe distance).

I just went and weighed myself, 91Kg how does that make me a lightweight? ;)

Well I've finally got my Ohlins fitted to the bike. First impression, wow, bike feels much better planted and very stable now, much less drive under power and have finally managed to get the bike to rise and fall equally front to rear when standing on the foot peg, something I never managed with the air shock.

Will get it off road in the next couple of weeks and see how it handles then.

But as upgrades go, this is one that I really feel is worth the money easily!

ohlins

speed dude, the ohlins is great, wait till u start getting some air, thats when u appreciate it even more. I kinda thought it was just me but after reading a few other guys stories , i really do thing the air shock sux. Except if you are a talented rider like kiwi adventure

Yeah I need every bit of help I can get to make up for a major lack of talent and being a light short arse!!!!

The Ohlin's gives me so much more confidence to try things and just get on with riding the bike!
