I'm so embarrassed to have to ask this question that last weekend I ordered a oil filler cap tool (plus optimate charger) from NNs to avoid me having to do this but, in line with my terrible recent luck around postal deliveries, it seems that Royal Mail have decided to deliver the parcel to somebody else:blast: so here goes.

Need to top up the oil, but unless there's an issue with the underseat tool for this, I can't work out how I release the posidrive from the holder. It looks like you unscrew the bit that fits into the oil cap filler, just that I can't unscrew it.:nenau

You need to hold the black plastic part in one hand and the silver metal part in the other, then give it a pull. I hope that has helped and remember there is no such thing as a bad question. Happy topping up.

Yeah but which hand does which part go in ?
It's so confusing................. :augie

Not sure re this thread but the plastic handle of the BMW screwdriver in the the toolkit doubles up as the removal tool fro the standard plastic filler cap, all you need to do is hold the handle push the tool down and twist anti clockwiae and the cap comes out

Shytalk - thanks, did try, must be (well, I am) getting old....will try again!

Tarka, lol

I think you are supposed to use the spanner in the kit on the flats on the removal tool to make it easier to turn it - at least that is what I do.

You can actually use the key - well you can on the TC

PS it does not need to be THAT tight

I made a 3D printed one. The files needed are freely available. Its quite good too.
