hi

i am just doing an oil and filter on my r100gs and just noticed i did not get new o ring with the filter. would it be ok to keep using the old one that is on the oil filter plate?

plus should there be a crush washer with the sump pug ? as i did not see one when i took it off.

hope you guys can help

hello sean,
yes you should use a new O ring but if you are careful and the old one is not dammaged you can get away with it if you have to :thumb just keep an extra eye on it for the first few runs to make sure it is not leaking. if it does you can lay the bike on its side and change it without dropping the oil :thumb2 yes there should be a crush washer are you sure it is not stuck to the sump of you missed it dropping off into the catch bowl for the oil :thumb

the oil filter oil ring is not leaking. but my need a new crush washer for the sump it looks like its weeping a very tiny bit but will go for a 2rd run and check it again.

you may be lucky and find it will stand being nipped up a little tighter. if you decide to change it do it on a cold engine and be quick to get your finger over the hole :blagblah then you will loose less oil :thumb may be handy to have an assistant on hand because its a bit of a sod if you drop something and you cant reach it because you have your finger over the drain hole DAMHIK :blast:blast:D
