Once I've removed bash plate on 1200GS, what tool do I need to drain the oil? Never done it on this bike. Thanks

Buy/borrow/download and read the manual before spannering.

Applies to anything.

Don`t attempt it 'bit by bit' or 'question by question' ... read it through then look it through before doing anything.

I have to entirely agree. The fact that you are even asking the question suggests that you may be working outside your knowledge envelope.

Have you thought about the filter - and how you're going to remove the old one and fit a new one?

Dont listen to Greg !!!

He removes the oil out of his bike on the motorway and sprays it all over the bikes behind him :dabone

You need an allen key to remove the drain plug (can't remember what size, sorry) and a tool of some sort to remove the oil filter. Do a search on "oil filter tool" in the 1200 forum and you should see what people have come up with. You'll also need a torque wrench to reinstall the drain plug if you want to do things properly.

If you've changed the oil on other bikes there's nothing special about this one really, apart from the recessed filter which can't be removed by hand.
