Hi,

I have managed to get myself free range access to a Laser metal cutter and the first thing id like to make is a custom oil cooler cover for my 59 GS.

Does anyone here have access to a not fitted cooler cover and take some dimensions for me? Need width, length and the dimensions of the lugs that is used to hold it on. I'm not bothered about the style of it, just the external dimensions.

Once i have these i will design it in CAD and have it 'printed' in stainless steel. I'll happily print a couple to anyone who helps.. maybe more if the design is popular.

Thanks in advance.

Here's one i made earlier, I might still have the drawing somewhere, what formats can you import? This is on a .plt i think?

I dont think i can open a .plt but ill try.. using autocad so generally anything in a.dwg is great.

either that or the dimensions.

thanks

I can do a .dwg, dimensions? I dunno, all i do is cut a card template that fits, scan the bit of card then trace over the outline, measure the major dims, resize the vector i've just drawn to match the templete dimensions, add tags for mounting, this one i just used velcro and some fine wire (which held for 30,000 miles).

Then i just got creative with the design:nenau

Take the front beak off the bike and make it fit over the back (oil cooler side) of the opening, Tab at the bottom to screw to the beak and 2 tabs at top to screw to the little spoiler.

Mine is made from woven stainless wire mesh, but laser cut could be the same overall shape.
