Reliving bike trips whilst sat at my desk....
Hello,

I'm slowly getting the bits and bobs for my bike from Touratech etc, and I'll soon be ordering an oil cooler. But I have one concern: The oil cooler is the main way for the bike to maintain a good operating temperature, so does have a grill in front of it affect the air flow to the cooler and so make the bike run hotter? Not an issue on the open road, but could be a problem in town.

Anyone had this as a problem? If so what's the solution and what model/manufacturer of grill would reduce this?

Cheers.

no real problem with fitting a grill as long as it doesnt block off to much air flow do a search for reynos oil cooler grill he will sort you out :thumb

i worked out my grill only has just over a third of the area open compared to no grill at all

doesn't run hot though :)

Don't fit one! I recently collected a bat (pipistrelle, see my thread) on the oil cooler, so in reality it is just a cosmetic extra.

Still want one though!

I made one from shaping some B&Q steel mesh. A pack costs £4 and gives you enough to make or break about 5 of them. I sprayed this one with some silver enamel paint and I wouldn't imagine this restricts air flow at all.
