Hello,
It's quite rare the i post but her goes,

I have purchased a Wunderlich oil cooler guard from Nippy Normans for my 2008 GS, on there website it stated that it was only stuck on. I have received it and it states the headlight and the beak need to come off. Does anyone have the definitive instructions on how to fit this or should I just send it back. I'm not keen on taking the bike to bits as I doubt I would be able to put it back together properly:nenau

You hardly have to take the bike to bits.....

The whole job will take you under 30 mins.

Go on - have a mini adventure!

1) If you take something off, take photo's of it before you do. This helps a lot but DAMHIK :blast

2) Have a decent set of torx screwdrivers / bits including IIRC T25 and T27.

3) Take your time and remember #1 ;)

4) If you're really concerned about taking the bike to bits, get a friend or the dealer to do it instead.

5) If #4 is appropiate, happy with oil levels and filling?

Not many places sell only one bit. If you have a set, you can take other things off / put back on as well ;)

True! I'd be lost without my Torx set

(Actually I'd be lost without my satnav, but that's held on with Allen Bolts)

+1,on the mini adventure! the body work on the 1200gs range is very well made IMHO, Youll learn loads about the bike once youve taken it apart and put it back together, you just need to remember that some of the screws are longer/shorter than others and where they go, it really is easier than you think,
as for the cooler cover, if its the one im thinking of, youll only need to remove the beak to fit it, not the headlight.
30mins tops should see the job done, if your bikes a 12gsa id be glad to pm you my phone no. and talk you through it.

Thanks very much for the replies.

It's a 2008 GS, I might give it a go tomorrow, Just need to know where to start?

i bought the same one thinking it would be a very simple job but the instructiond made it look bigger than ben hur and i just sacked it asw i have very limited time in the uk and would be rather rideing her than pulling bits of her but thinking about it now you would be able to do it by just taking the beak off which is no great task and as stated earlier once you have had all the plactic off your kowledge of the bike increase4s a hell of a lot

would be intrested to see your pics once its on as it looks very nice bit of bling which really sets the front of the bike off and its so different from any of the other oil grills i'v seen.

Hi,
I managed to fit the oil cooler guard this afternoon with the help of a mate, it took about an hour. We didnt need to disconnect the headlight in the end, just unbolted it and pushed it back.
I'm quite pleased with myself and the end results and the bike is easier to take apart than the previous model.
It's definately not just a case of sticking it over the oil cooler as mentioned on the nippy norman website but the instructions are quite comprehensive.
