Does anyone know if anyone makes an oil cooler relocation kit to move my oil cooler off the crashbar on my R100gspd before I start fabricating something?

Touratech used to. Probably long deleted from their catalogue but try HPN or Siebenroc.

Another option is to delete it all together.

Never thought of that, I presume it’s needed if not they would have saved money and not fitted? Probably more experienced members of the parish will know more than me on that one.

I’ve had plenty of 1000cc Airheads without oil coolers as standard. Plenty of other people have commented over the years that , unless you’re riding in extreme heat conditions, you really don’t need one. Quite possibly they were fitted as fashion dictated they should.

So all I would need is a different oil filter cover and an angle grinder

Word of warning,
Chances of getting the old hoses off the cooler are very slim.
Normally corroded on and will wreck the threads if you try to undo them.
I do have a cooler and hoses for location under the headstock but it’s kind of spoken for ,tho no cash has changed hands.
Will check to see if the chap still wants it.

Unless you’re planning to ride it through the desert, I’d ditch the cooler.

Ive got a conversion kit for the oil filter housing. A cover and a centre piece for the canister. Think it was £20 from motorworks (used) I stuck with the cooler as I plan some Balkan trips so possibly 35c or more.
Yours for cost.

I had one of those on my G/S special. An expensive PITA, I took it off after the fist trip.

Just leave it where it is and carry a bypass pipe incase it gets damaged
I rode the bike loads off road and over some pretty keen stuff and never damaged it
So I don't think it's a real problem

I had a very slight leak from my 1991 r100gs ( bought new ) , oil cooler. I think it got hit by a stone.
Cleaned it all then ran the bike for a short time to find out where the leak was.
Then re cleaned it… let it dry completely, and added a small amount of araldite to the site of the leak.
Left to cure over a few days…… leak fixed, and no further problem for many thousand miles…bet it’s still okay if the bike is still running…..I sold it at 5 years old, and 55k plus miles…..great bike
