Hi chaps, I was out this morning and noticed some white powdery stuff on the fins on the cooler only at the bottom but the fins were soft to touch. Any ideas!

I mean oil cooler! Can it overheat and burn? Dealers have asked me to pop it back on Monday any ideas!

The white powder is alumium oxide, periodically wash the cooler out and when dry give it a spray of wd40 or duck oil, etc.
I had this on my new GSA back in 2006, and since it has been fine with the cleaning and oil protection.

The fins are ali and very thin so will be soft. The white powder is probably oxidisation. Don't worry, maybe a spray 0f WD40 or similar will help.

Whatever you do, do not jet wash the oil cooler radiator.... It will bend the fins and strip the paint off.

Do not go mad with the scrubbing brush, either. Gently does it :thumb2

Thanks for your replies I've cleaned it and sprayed wd40 looks ok now thanks for your help!
