Has anyone else noted that their oil cooler is offset in relation to the frame that goes around it? The frame is the one which you can see when the beak is on, and the beak attaches to by the front screws. The lack of clearance is as the frame bends to keep away from the cooler. I'll try and post a picture of the area later.

While trying to fit an oil cooler protector I noticed there is no clearance on the right (as you look at it from the front, or the oil filler side) and 3-4 mm on the other. The clearance, or lack of, can be seen with the beak on by the way. Other new 12Gs looked at today are also the same.

So are they all like that sir?

Don't understand 'bout the cooler stuff (though I have fitted the Touratech guard) but I've learnt one thing - your bike's f***ing clean!

Yours shamefully

I was taking photos of my (unclean) bike recently so I snapped this one. Its not as clear as it could be, but the oil cooler on mine is slightly offset to the left (rider's left). It looks like yours is more offset, possibly, but I am not sure.

Anyway, hope this helps in some way.

John, how do you get your framework and insulation tape to change colours like that ?

Oh and the carpet could do with a brush.

much of the rest of the bike is asymetric, so it must be in keeping with the trend :D

I think the technical correct term you are looking for is "wonky"...

;)

Noddy - thanks for nothing.

I am surprised no one else has the cooler touching the frame. Best I speak with the dealer again as I dont fancy the oil leaking onto the front wheel.

Mouse, hard to see properly from the photo but looks like your bike has the same rusty frame as mine did before it was touched up under warranty.

Check out the welded joint to the left of the bottom of your oil cooler. There is a white powdery deposit that goes right back through the paint, after a while it may turn rusty red like mine did.

I found two of the three bikes on the stand at the NEC had the same deposit.

Got a picture some where of mine.

Frontal pic # 2

What I find rather surprising is the difference in the angle between the oil cooler horizontal lines and the frame above it. The last two photo's have been aligned with the frame.  Mouses certainly looks what I would expect to see.

Yours certainly looks wonky - I'm not sure what the dealer would say to this but I reckon it's wonky enough to be "wrong". It can't hurt to ask them to rectify it under warranty.

Wonky

I'm now sufficiently worried that I'll speak wiith them on Monday. I'm surprised that no one else has the problem as 4 others last weekend were the same.

The bike's so clean as it has only been to the dealers and back in the dry as work has taken me away.:(

Here's a nother couple of pictures from underneath with the beak on, first the dodgy side ie .002mm feeler gauge won't fit.
