Oil filter rmoval tool in the Leeds / Bradford area?

Hi Guy's.. just taken my oil out and taken the filter off by tapping on my Hi-Flow removal tool.. but it does indend the OE filter a tad... anyone got a tool / socket to fit the OE filter in the Leeds / Bradford area, so I can replace the new one without damaging it....
Otherwise I'll just use my rubber strap tool.... Cheers
 
Only ever screw an oil filter on hand tight, do not use a strap !
(Only use a special tool if the filter is in a recess and inaccessible)

Smear a spot of oil on the seal before you screw it on so it seals correctly and you can get it off next time
 
Put some tape around it so I could grip it.. and did it up as tight as I could... but just thinking it may be too much... so may back it off a bit... says 11Nm in the book??..
Smeared oil on the seal.. and filled the filter first ;)
 
re-did it.. it's not quite as tight as I can get it, but has come to a stop IYKWIM... my hands are quite strong and I do have a history of snaping thing off LOL... better safe....

The oil that came out was hot, but got to say it was like water!.... very thin stuff...
Will have to see how the Motul 5w40 does... it does sound quiet just running it up now... see what its like when hot :)
 
The oil will be thin, it’s supposed to be. As for the filter, as others have said, hand tight only.

Was the the replacement oil any thicker? Now if you had fitted a HiFlo oil filter it would have been easier:D

Yes.. you are right... got the tool for them!!... no, same grade, just Motul T4 7100.. see how it goes...

Just looking at the diff now... says use SAF-XO... I have Castrol Syntrax Long Life 75w90... wonder if thats the same stuff?

You will be fine with 75w90 its what i am using in mine.
 
Syntrax has superseded saf xo, but don’t use the limited slip stuff 👍
 
its what I was sold for the twin cam... 2 bottles?... so looks like its the stuff to use.. 180cc so .18 of a ltr... does not sound much.... I've got through one of the bottles on my last bike... wonder if the twin cams took more?

(just looked.. they also used 700cc in the gearbox :thumb2 thats why this bottle has been opened and topped up... 120cc left over from the first one :) )
 
I got the oil filter tool for when you need to remove it next time at Baildon
 
If future plans are to do your own oil changes I would like to suggest getting the proper oil filter tool from BMW. Quite cheap and with the ability to use 3/8" wrenches for removing the filter as well as torqueing the filter to the prescribed 11Nm.
