Oil grade change or not

My old mate had a 6k service on his g650gs at Lovett Bristol. He has just notice they have used 15/50 racing oil on his printed bill. He questioned them and was told bmw now use the same oil in all models!.Any feedback would be useful

After having starting issues since the oil change and the gearbox being not as nice as before they agreed to change the oil and filter. Only after the mechanic had a ride and said it was not how he would have hoped. Fresh oil in(10/40) and the bike is back to normal. BMW where keen on the feedback and asked for a update after a two week period

Clive spoke to the tech guy at BMW Hq and only a month ago they made the change to this oil across the range ,but did say that they think the customer should be offered the choice
