Hi was wondering if anyone else had experienced this. I set up the oil indicator, which shows if the oil is ok, however it keeps on disaperaing from the screen. Have tried setting up on the bottom line, top line and both to no avail, it just disappears and reappears whenever it feels like it. Took it into BMW several times and they did an ECU reflash however nothing has changed it still comes on and goes off when it likes. Bmw have said they are waiting for Germany to get back to them however its a load of crap that I should have this.

Just out of interest why would you want the oil indicated on all the time? From what I can gather on another thread the LC doesn't burn oil like the Wc also the indicated will come on the screen if it gets low anyway.

I think the oil level sensor to display only works when you are idling or in neutral at low revs??

If the oil is being pumped round correctly any constant level would show virtually empty ....

It's oil pressure you should be more concerned with when the engine is running.

No you're right I don't want it on all the time and yes it should only be indicated when at idle. However I have set the indicator to be on and as I mentioned it comes on and goes off at will. One day I'll have a look and it will be there, I'll bring up through the menus later and its disappeared

It's probably cos the bikes intelligent enough to only show you the oil level when.... you need to see it !!

Im sure its intelligent but it should still do what it says it should do in the manual.

I agree with that but as you can't measure the oil level whilst on the go all it would show is ---- !

So what would be the point.

Check the oil in the sight glass when cold from day to day and enjoy the bike.

Im absolutely agreement with you on that and yes it will only show .... however the point is that the bike should show whenever you bring up and it does not and therefore there is a fault as it comes up at will. To my original question, which was has anybody else experienced this?

Hi,
I think what you might be doing is exiting screen with it saved.. if you alter settings in BC Custom, then you must leave this as the setting, its easy to flick it back to default,, ( I did it myself ).. check that BC custom is in the set up display.. if you have a problem PM me and I can try to talk you through it when I am near my bike,, cheers :thumb2

Bud can you run me through that again. I have set up in custom display and saved settings, where should I go from here?

I thought it only came on when at optimum temperature and in neutral at idle on a level surface . Put it in gear and the screen clears / scrolls to the next bit of information :nenau

Guys your absolutely correct however with mine if you scroll through the menu sometimes the indicator will be there other times it will have disappeared

Are you accessing this screen in EXACTLY the same conditions each time - if you are not then there is your answer.

No it happens at different times. Today on my journey to work it was on when I started the journey, when I checked at the traffic lights scrolled through and it came up that oil was ok, by the time I reached work scrolled through and it was no longer there. On my way back this afternoon it was back on again. Spoke with BMW today and once again they are still looking into it.

Hi barclays. My two week old lc is doing exactly the same thing. Did you ever get this issue resolved?

Probably down to the oil that you are using - thinner oil will take longer to register but disappear faster - thicker oil is the opposite. Depends on the temperature as well. :nenau

I still have this issue with mine. BMW Parklane said they were waiting on Germany to let them know however they never got back to me on it. I then took to another dealer and again they could not figure it out either. They then said that there was a recall on the throttle and said this could be the problem, they replaced it however the problem still exists although not as frequently as before. I have since taken up with the Dealer Principle and am waiting on his reply.
