Yep, can’t fault the service. Fingers crossedThat's a result of sorts then and sounds like your dealer is looking after you. Hopefully you'll get a decent loan bike!

What rubbish. You don’t start stripping a new bike when it’s in warranty.Yes it is a mod BMW did after market, I had that on my 2015RT, it is meant to vent, you could always drop the FD & give it the once over to ensure there’s nothing amiss. I change my FD oil every 6K & “service” the splines etc
I think you've missed the update, it's the gear box seal that's goneIf oil is coming out of there then there is only one place it can come from. The output shaft seal from the back of the gearbox. Book it in now. You should have it back for next spring.
If you want to confirm it, roll back the front boot on your swingarm. You can see the seal from there. It should be bone dry.
yes, but they've missed that it's been confirmed and being dealt withIsn’t that what moto revive is saying?

You are correct, but as the OP has already confirmed this in post #16 you don't get your £5I reckon it`s the gearbox seal....
Brilliant! They can't POSSIBLY loan a tool from another dealer! So the outcome is gearbox seal has gone. The good news it's an easy fix, the bad news the dealership has never fixed one before and so don't have the necessary tool so have had to order it from Germany which takes 2-3 weekIn the meantime I'm getting a loan bike.
I did wonder that too, however I can't really fault their service so far picking the bike up within a few hours of me contacting them and them getting it into the workshop the same day, then offering a loan bike whilst they have mine.Brilliant! They can't POSSIBLY loan a tool from another dealer!
I get it. I'm not a BMW dealer hater but I always think KISS. Hope it all gets sorted. Take care, Bud.I did wonder that too, however I can't really fault their service so far picking the bike up within a few hours of me contacting them and them getting it into the workshop the same day, then offering a loan bike whilst they have mine.
If I were in your position I'd be telling them (politely) to stick it and give you an equivalent to the bike you purchased from them. Their Sales Dept must have a GSA or GS Demo Bike they could loan you whilst your bike is awaiting repair. This situation is not of your making and the dealer needs to do everything they can to keep you happy. This starts with a suitable replacement bike whilst your is off the road.Picked up the loan bike today, had the choice of an R 18, F 900 R, F 800 GS and F 900 GS, went with the F 900 GS as I thought it'd be best suited to me due to my height.
I can't say I'm impressed tbh. The engine needs working hard to go anywhere, I know it's a smaller engine but I thought the weight might negate some of this, clearly not. I also don't like the engine characteristics, very vibey to the point of being juddery.
Wind/weather protection is non-existent, felt like riding a naked bike. I guess the only positive of this is on the rare occasion temperatures get in excess on 25°C it'd keep you cooler. The seat may as well be a breeze block, got a numb bum within 30mins, after 45mins my whole gentleman area had gone numb
Lastly the cornering, it didn't instil confidence. I know it's a new bike, but I can remember how much confidence the 1250 gave me when I first took it out. Now I'm not a fast or aggressive rider by any stretch but the front seemed to want to push wide with any form of acceleration through the corner, reminded me of my Road King.
I'm sure for some it's a great bike, but it doesn't suit me at all and I can't wait to get my 1250GSA back.
P.S. I did question why they couldn't get the tool needed to fix my bike from another dealership and they said they don't swap tools as they tend to go walkabouts. I can understand that.
Thanks, my view is that the service has been excellent to date and I have no reason to complain, it's just unfortunate that I'm a big guy and as a result find a lot of bikes uncomfortable to ride. Since my last post I have contacted them about having a different bike but they don't have anything more suitable, and gave me a full explanation of why they don't have one of the bigger bikes available as a long term loan. I am happy with their explanation and appreciate their transparencyIf I were in your position I'd be telling them (politely) to stick it and give you an equivalent to the bike you purchased from them. If you had called BMW Assist, they would have taken your bike away and almost certainly put you into a 4 wheeled BMW product via Enterprise, the cost of which would be added to the warranty claim. Doing this alone gets BMW UK involved and they will put pressure on the dealer and the BMW system to expedite the repair dammed pronto due to the hire car costs.
You could end up at the back of a long queue now waiting a repair as the dealer has given you a courtesy bike at their cost although they do have an option to charge it out against the total claim on the basis that not all bikers are car drivers.
Good Luck![]()
