I'm torn between an Odessey at £84 or an Exide Gel battery for £70.

I now have the gaiter as suggested from eBay for the ball joint.
Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the ball joint or info on it before I strip it out. Is it a tapered bearing or a sleeve affair? I see it has an Allen bolt and not sure what's it for from my manual. Just need to understand before striping it out and any info would be greatly appreciated

Soldered wiring joints were mentioned higher up. They are obviously solid for electrical purposes, but solder wicks along the wire strands and can create a stress raiser where the strands bend sharply against the end of the solder.
So any soldered wires subject to vibration or around the headstock (aka anywhere on a GS) are likely to snap off unless supported with heat shrink sleeve and carefully tied down.
