Oil Light Flashing Intermittently

My mates 1150GS has the above described problem, oil level is fine but when the engine is idling the oil warning light flickers on and off, and now and again stays on, as soon as he moves off the light goes out, could it be a sensor or is it something more serious.

If there's no clunking or rattling just check the wire / connection and if no damage or corrosion?

Just change the sensor ?

Make sure and give the right year cos there's a change to the connectors

(As a matter of interest, When was the last time it had a service?)

out of curiosity my oil light was flicking on/off when cold and idling and there IS a rattle/knock which sounds like its coming from gearbox-clutch area and it also sounds like i,m hyjacking this thread.sorry i,m going now.cheers

My 2000 1150gs had same symptoms, (plus a small leak from the sensor) Replaced sensor and now sorted

Thanks Jay' Oil and filter change this time last year and it's due it's 24K service around now there's about 22500 miles on the clock, we'll be doing his and my bike oil & filter next week so we'll get a new sensor as well.

Edit: engine and gear box sound sweet.

the clutch is dry and the gearbox has seperate oil, nowt to do with your oil light

Does it go away when you pull the clutch lever slightly???

They all Do that sir well the earlier ones did anyway
