Oil sight glass - take 2 - your experience on fitting a new one on an older bike

I can happily say that roughly 130 miles later on Saturday in pouring rain it looks like this:

No leaks! One happier GS owner... Love the GS by the way, that distance was enough, so reassuring in the rain as well, wouldn't be so easy on a different bike and different tyres.
As for the oil light - on Sunday I went to check Galactic Greyhound's suggestion, switched the ignition on and hey, presto - oil light lit up! It must've been standing for some time prior to when I bought it, maybe it got stuck, but now oil sensor works as should! Will get a spare anyway, but it's all good! Few bolts to drill out, yes, but mostly good. Will need to approach it one thing at a time, until all is well. Thanks for all your help and see you out there (and here, probably not too long from now... :) ).

Your oil leak from the large banjo bolt on the oil cooler return pipe just needs two new washers. They're the same size as the engine sump drain plug.

I look forward to the 150+ page write up when you change a clutch :D

Point taken, good one, I'll give you that... :) Will try to avoid it next time. As for the washers - still got two, so that's next. Any chance of doing it without dropping all oil if I tilt the bike? Promise I won't post photos...

PS: I was going to write that as for 'bit too much' information - I've come across many contradictive posts, noone has ever said he had problems and how he resolved it (well, none that I've read) so I thought it might... but I think I'll just shut up now. :) I'm definitely guilty of overthinking things.

My wife say's I fart to much, so don't worry , over thinking is only a minor misdemeanor !

I stuck mine in the freezer for a couple of hours went in easy with slight pressure with finger, 2 years now still OK
