I think 1litre / 1000 is the upper end of BMW's 'allowable' oil consumption but it seems a lot.
My old 50k 1100 used to use about 1/3 litre / 1000 in mixed riding. Strangely, fast motorway thrashes used to use none.
My new (to me) TC is to new to tell but it is an ex-demo so was probably thrashed from new, which by all accounts is better for future oil consumption than pootling around being 'careful' - time will tell
