OK... It broke down!

Stock batteries are crap. I've had to replace 2 so far, because of similar symptoms, I'd get an Odyssy but they're not available here and would be a bit pricey to have posted.

As has been suggested, try charging first, if that doesn't work.....and it didn't with my first failure but it was still a battery fault, try finding someone else with the same one and see if that works. If you have to replace it, get something other than a BMW supplied one. Even a Hong Kong one off eBay would be better.

Well, it seems that my GS, and the two before it, manage very well to convert this material to electricity. Most battery problems are not caused by the battery - but you can only get out of them what you put in - so look further if you have a problem.

Whatever the cause it sounds lime the battery is shagged. I'd get a new battery and measure the current with the ignition off if you have concerns about the wiring.

Just as a matter of interest I had a new battery recently,the origonal being 3 years old.It is a Yuasa YTX 14BS and cost me just short of £30.00
Yes £30.00.
Not even worth trying for an odesey!

Now he tells me! I just bought an odyssey from Nippy Normans for more than three times that.

In preparation for my trip to Gambia, I thourght it wouuld be a good idea to replace the original battery, (04 1200) So it was changed by the independent guy who fettles mine, he fitted a Varta and the cost was about £35.

Well charging the existing battery made no difference. Didn't think so. Nippy norman sent me an email saying thanks for the order and payment and that if it was not in stock i might be waiting 4 weeks. Of course they're closed till Monday so i'm officially off the road till they feel like sending it to me.

Nippy norman delivered my new battery this morning and she started first time on the button. Thanks for the advice guys!
