no not at all got the wrong end of the stick there.

i have rode both an 06 and a 08 1200 and still prefer the 1150 .each to there own just my opinion thats all .
I'm not sure there is a wrong end of the stick to get.
With:
a few people have had 3 or 4 gs 1200,s if they are that good why buy a new one so soon they have only been out a couple of years and have had slight changes.
you quite clearly seem to be inferring that people have had 3 or 4 bikes cos they are unreliable. What other end of the stick is there to get?:nenau

Regardless of your preference for 1150 or otherwise.

got one

:thumb been riding bikes for 20 years, had all makes of Jap bikes except Honda's had problems with them all, had aprillia, had problems, had triumph, broke down in Italy, if you do enough miles they will break at some point, they are not like cars ( audi a6 197000 miles and still going strong), however I have wanted a GS for some time, so I got a 54 plates r 1200GS had it 3 days and only done 300 miles ( I have been working), my wife likes it on the back which is a plus and I had a great ride out today, its done 200 miles to a tankful, its comfy and fast enough ( just), I dont expect it will always run perfectly but Ill take the rough with the smooth and anyone thinking of buying any bike should do the same ( handles well though):bounce1:clap

:thumb2+1 (at last - someone who is talking sense!)

Reliability is putting me off

Bikes today are fairly reliable
When i started riding 35 years ago you were lucky to go 2 weeks without some sort of brakedown, but you put up with it because of your love of riding.
At least these days someone will come out ,fix your bike at the roadside or get you home.
In my 35 "continuous" riding years i have ridden hundreds of bikes and owned around 50 my current being a VFR 800iW. Despite some negative press regarding the gs 1200,in the very near future i will hopefully be ordering a new 1200GSA,which IMHO is in the top 3 bikes i have ever ridden and the best alrounder.
The point i was trying to get to, is that if you intend to spend 11K on your new bike and to keep it for a long time,DO IT because over a long period you get to know a bike and its little foybles. Although annoying if you breakdown, over the next 2 years any faults would be fixed under warrenty
and after that you know your bike well enough to sort most problems.
I have had a couple of bikes that in the first 2 years fom new, have had several problems but once sorted have given many trouble free miles
And if at the end of the day your not going to loose a great wad on a well spec,d BMW.
Hope this makes sense and helps with your decision.
