OK, So although this isn't "Chrome-heads" I thought Id ask here as well.

Ive recently replaced the battery and Oil change on my 2004 (5400mile) R1200C. Tank off and all that.

After replacing the tank the bike now idles at ( as a guess) 2500rpm. Ive posted this on chrome heads and one response was "ignition on, twist throttle to full, release to normal, repeat two more times. Ignition Off, Ignition ON , start bike"...

We'll Ive tried that, with no change.

The other opinions were "frayed cable" etc, and I've checked that...Nope!

The only other idea that I have is that Ive managed to trap the cable somewhere..

So before I take everything apart again...any ideas from you lot ?

(Just hoping?)

Are both cables properly seated at the throttle body ends?

Same first thought here......

Even if they LOOK right, they can need to be re-seated.

Otherwise, it could be back up in the bowden box maybe.....that can be a beeyatch

There's only one cable and if its unseated the throttle position sensor sends an open throttle signal which then injects the appropriate amount of fuel and since the cable is hung up it rev's its nads off

Either snap the throttle by opening fully and releasing suddenly half a dozen times and try starting it again then If it doesn't work sorry but you're going back under the tank again

This was the initial idle speed control by air bypass controlled by a stepper valve (just one valve) that we see on the 1200 Hexhead models now So there's nothing to adjust but the cable or the TPS or the Idle valve which "may" possibly have stuck open but was it running correctly before you fitted the battery ???

Link to throttle control valves that are in the airbox rather than throttle bodies on the usual oilhead motors http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...9C1-BMW-R_1200_C_97_0424,0434_&diagId=13_0619
