Spurred by Flintlocks thread about WW2 aircraft crash sites I thought I'd start one on old Military sites in Ireland. Here are a couple. This is the boundary marker (on the left) for the Grey's Fort complex at Helen's bay on the shores for Belfast Lough. The conical structure to the right is an attachment point for a Lewis Gun. This is reported on google as a mile post for Titanic sea trials....its not!

Here is some information about the fort itself. The Guns for it were obtained from Co.Cork after the original guns had been removed.

I took a run up to Donegal last Wednesday and visited Lenan Fort near the Mamore Gap.

Lovely vistas round the corner at the Soldiers Hill viewpoint.
