Hello folks,
I'm considering buying an older 990 smt. I had one previously and enjoyed it.
I'm just concerned about service items and parts availability.
Is anybody here running one at the moment? What's your experience of servicing and parts availability?

Cheers,
Neil

Check with your local KTM dealer

The last time I needed one, the fuel pump was not available

PS watch out for warping fuel tanks :banghead:

This one has been lying up for 5 years. I'm starting to think this would be a terrible idea and lead to many complex problems.

Depends on it's history & why it was taken OTR in the first place. Unless you can tick those boxes to your satisfaction, best to look elsewhere.

I ran 2, back in the day. My memory says sharp throttle that needs a tamer, lights terrible, fuel filling weird, seat a tad high & could get uncomfortable, battery under the engine, KTM frequently screwed residuals by late season discounting. To my mind the Super 10 Gen2 was a better option, but each to their own.

Either of the two BSA Bantams currently in the Classified Section of UKGSer would be a better buy :augie
Fond memories of many Bantams, best left in the past IMHO.

A mate of mine went back to the fold, taking his early small barrel 125 plunger to various local shows, but he soon tired of it. Tends to use his RE Meteor mostly these days - low powered rather than under powered makes riding feel a whole lot safer.

I'm coming from several back to back gs/gsa. I feel the need for something different. I don't know what to get next. ATM I'm not touring on it, I use it for commuting to work.
Something fun, but reliable would tick the box. I'm out of ideas🤷
