The two metal quick release petrol connectors I ordered from Omega arrived today (took about a week for delivery)

The part numbers for those interested are:

FT-LCD170-05-FKM
FT-LCD220-05-FKM

(FKM = 'viton' like O rings, petrol resistant)

Before I go ahead and fit them to my R1100GS I have a couple of questions

1. Can you fit them any way round, that is to say there is no direction of flow. I was intending fitting one connector one way and the other one the other way, so I don't re connect the fuel pipes wrong.

2. Where can I get spare O rings from, Omega said they don't supply them (something to do with liability).

No idea about these particular ones you have, but certainly the BMW ones you fit different ways around.....it's how they come, so when re-connecting, you cant get it wrong :thumb2

Stick one in your gob and blow, then flip it around, that'll tell you :D

AFTERTHOUGHT:
If they are directional (and I'd bet my left bollock that they aren't), they will have a flow indicator arrow on them :)

They are not directional. You want to install them, as bin rider says, so the tank does not drain out. When you install them side by side make sure that they are installed in different "directions", so you can never plug them together switched, i.e. when you take the tank off one of the tank hose connections is male and the other one is female .

I have had the Omega ones for years, they work great.

Thanks for the info people, khpossum, did you manage to get any spare O rings from anywhere? I want to keep a couple of sets in the tool kit just in case.

I have not used any of my spares yet, but I have a few I got at Beemerboneyard.com. I had to order some filters and brakepads anyway, so I added a few fuel orings. I would imagine you can get them at any oring place if you take of one with you, or measure them and order them on line..

This is where I got my QDs as well...and some spare o-rings...vton, I believe...

Got the couplings fitted today, it was pretty tight working in that space so I used a set of these:

Made cutting the fuel lines easy, it gave a good square cut without any risk of damaging anything else in the vicinity of the pipes.

I fitted them in opposite directions as discussed and offset them against each other so they fitted neatly together.

Next job fuel pump and filter.
