Ok be gentle I'm new and a Harley rider :) I am also a short arse!! Is there anyone here that rides an adventure who has a 29 inch inside leg? it seems that every thing i read about these beasts says that they are huge. I sat on one at the bike show and couldn't even touch the floor. I asked the nice man if they had a lower version he just sneered and told me to grow some longer legs! very helpful :) Hopefully you guys and girls wont be so rude.
Cheers,

Andy

Try Nippy Normans for a sidestand foot extender - only lifts the bike by about an inch but it makes a huge differance when struggling to get the bike up off a bad road camber :thumb

Wizard has a 1200 GSA and an inside leg similar to your own.

He may pop in at some point but until then do a search on his posts.

Give him a chance...poor wee fella broke the stool he climbs onto the seat in front of the PC :D

29 inches??

S'no prob....lots of people around with that here- too many options to mention but have apoke around with the search button and you'll find all sorts of solutions, mods and tips on being a short arsed GS owner :)

Im not sure what the height difference is between th GS and the GSA but I have a 2006 GS and a 29" inside leg and i cope ok with it.

kawasaki gpz500s:ymca...thats what you need! i dont think you need to be that tall..you soon learn a technique to deal with the height/weight etc

I only have a 30" inside leg. I have a Low Sargent seat fitted and I've no bother. I wondered if I'd made a huge mistake during my first weekend of ownership because at first it is bloody daunting moving the huge lump around but you soon just get on with it.
Another good tip is try some Daytona M Star GTX boots (they give you an invisible inch!)
Hope this helps

I'm 30" inside. Will try to handle the 2008 GSA beast with the standard seat first. If it fails there is supposed to be a new low driver seat out from BMW in black/Grey, limiting the height to 820mm.
:D

dont let anybody make you feel like you dont deserve what you want... short or not... go for the gs(a) and live the dream...if you cant live the dream, goto bed and dream it!

buy an HP 2 first and get a GSA as second bike the GSA will feel really low and is a piece of cake to ride about:thumb2

Is there anyone here that rides an adventure who has a 29 inch inside leg?

29.5:rolleyes: Can manage fine with GSA seat but feel more at ease with standard GS seat even when it's on high setting.
Mate has low GS seat fitted, he can now flat foot & he's a proper short arse;).. 27" inside leg

Bikes are always higher at the bike shows as they are generally on stands that don't let the suspension compress. I'm sure you'd cope OK with the BMW low seat. Even if that doesn't work, there's aftermarket kit that's over an inch lower again.

Do you want a GSA or do you need a GSA? This is the only question you need to answer. Don't pay too much attention to what others may say. By the way are you keeping the Harley. There are quite a few of us on here with a Gs and a HD. My lowrider is hibernating at the moment waiting for spring.

I have a GSA and short legs , so I fitted the GS low seat which was ok ,but then got some GS12 shocks fitted which makes it handle better and is lower than a std 1150 now,,
BTW, I have not changed the stands as I think I can live with a bit extra pull it needs to lift it.
Go out and get one if you want!, the downsides can be overcome...

Guys thanks so much for your replies, it sounds like I should be ok. I will pop down to Ocean and have a chat and test ride or hire one for a day and see how I get on. I wont be able to keep my beloved Harley really cant afford 2 bikes, but a change is as good as a rest and I've had the Harley for 5 years soon. Had the wife 29 now theres a thought :)

I have got 32" and just, just touch the floor with the seat on the high setting. On the lower setting I touch better but prefer the feel of the seat in high.

I reckon that with 29" it would be a big struggle without changing something.

I understand that you can fit the GS seats and they do a low one which might help.........and a dealer should be able to demonstrate it forr you as well.

I have seen a GSA with lowered Ohlins suspension but to my eye the bike looks odd when lowered.

Been to Ocean today for a sit on the new GSA very nice and i could touch the floor (Hurrah) but only just! I asked about the new 820 mm seat option and they new nothing about it and couldn't find it on any paperwork either? I'm sure I have seen somewhere that it is available with a low seat option, can any one confirm it definitely so I can take this along to Ocean.
Cheers,
Andy
(almost a convert, well if I can find a nice heel shifter for it and a set of apehangers)
