We stopped off at Eperlecques which has a huge bunker/block house which was built with the intention of making liquid rocket fuel, V2 rockets and launching 36 per day !

They never managed to launch any as the allies bombed the shit out of the place but christ what a place

It brought home to me how warfare had changed in the 25 years or so since the Somme

Walls were 16 feet thick and the steel door opened and closed by hydrolics still works and is immense

This place is well worth a visit if you are in the vicinity ( an hour from calais)

Just above the tall boy is the hole where it entered..also known as the earthquake bomb.
Fantastic place to visit.

We managed to stop there once, good place for a walk around. If i remember rightly theres a chunk off the roof caused be a tallboy as well. Bomber command "rattled them" so much they moved all the kit out and away to safety.
