One cylinder running faulty

The new Lambda probe arrived in todays post, looks identical to the one already on the bike including a short cable with a BMW connector on it, £69 inc vat and delivery. The company trades on eBay as "Powersparks" AKA Yates and Bloomfield, Unit 12A, Waterfoot Business Centre, Burnley Road East, Waterfoot, Lancashire, BB4 9HU.

The NGK/NTN part number is OZA630-BM1.

As you can see in the picture of my failed coil posted above (cheers Mark) it has oozed out some form of goo from within and also the grey end has melted and burst outwards. I presume it got pretty hot to do so, no wonder the bike was running like shit. )

I've seen coils looking a can of cavity wall foam has exploded in the engine. And they do get very hot, so hot i've seen a few burn the wiring connecting to the coil and melt the push fit plug, and the wiring is part of the main loom .
There is a repair section available so it must be a common problem.

Glad it's not just mine then Neil. I fitted the new lambda to no1 cylinder and the heater fault code now stays clear but the O2 trace is almost a flat line unlike the sawtooth on no 2 cylinder. I'm going to swap lambda probes over and see if the trace changes, it could be the way it's fuelling and not the lambda

Chucked some redex in the tank, rode about 20 miles, plugged in the GS911 and checked the Lambda traces, spot on for both cylinders. Well pleased.
