i need to insure a small cheap car just for one day, to deliver it

any recommendations?

Google: one day car insurance, or any similar four words. You could also include the word ‘cheap’ too, as Google don’t charge.

Then chose the quote that suits you, your age, your driving experience and record best.

I can recommend Tempcover. This is for cost and ease of getting a quote, followed by cover. Fortunately I didn't have too use it.

It allowed me to tax a new car that was covered by insurance that had a private reg, but the car couldn't have it assigned as it wasn't taxed.

One word

Dont!!

I di it to cover taking a car 5 miles to the scrapper

it cost me almost the same as a years premium ,

My lad uses it to borrow our SLK350. Prices vary from £6 for a couple of hours midday to £10 all day. Prices ratchet up after 10pm. Proviso is there must be an existing policy the car is covered under.

I’ll ask him who he uses

im looking for a recommendation from ukgser members

The trouble is, they ain’t you.

One (of the three) recommendations is don’t. The other demands that the vehicle is otherwise insured. The third, which is pretty vague, has a proviso over road tax.

Look at your own motor policy. Are you insured to drive another vehicle, not owned or rented by you and, if so, under what terms?

I had to do this twice to allow a friend to ferry me about when I was laid up after an operation. I can't remember which company I used but it was very easy to do. Cost me about £20 for 24 hours to cover an F-Pace in Pookey Hollow, Lincolnshire.

What news?

I ask only in as much as the opening post asks for recommendations.

See above :D:beerjug:
My apologies, I asked and then forgot to post. Mental capacity degradation probably

He uses Veygo..have to say they’re very easy to use though luckily not had cause to place a claim as yet

Indeed, I realise my post was hopeless in terms of a recommendation, apologies for that, but thought it might give the OP an idea of the cost, subject to being elderly and living in Lincolnshire :D.
In an attempt to redeem myself I've done a Google search to see if I can remember who I used, as that was how I found them in the first place, but it's not ringing any bells at all - sorry.

In essence I've spent a lot of time waffling and looking for solutions but achieved the square root of fk all squared and wasted everyone's time, leaving them utterly frustrated and no further forward.
In essence an excellent reminder of my 42 years in the call centre.

Apologies everyone.

Cost me £26 for an M4. Just for 24hrs. Saved me a lot of hassle. For some reason the M4 insurance was £150 cheaper with my private reg on rather than the reg it had. I thought that was strange cos there was nothing else different.

I don't think that's bad considering that most insurance companies charge £30 ish just to make a change.

Hoorah! After a bump and prod, the OP now at least has a name of an insurer, courtesy of g00ner, or rather son of g00ner.

GSian came very close with his M4 but then forgot to reveal the name of the insurer.

Comrade? Well he just failed and can go to the gulag.

I had a amount taken from my account from temp cover.com earlier in the year, never used them took an age to get the money back through the bank, fekers wanted the cover note number to release details, which I didn't have, they couldn't even confirm if it was logged to my address I thought they were quite unhelpful.
So if I did need temporary cover, which I won't, I wouldn't use them due to the unhelpful nature of the beast.

Edited to highlight the culprit.

Excellent. Not so much a hands-on bikermate recommendation who to use but…. One NOT to use, which is equally useful.

This thread is really coming to life. But no news from the OP…….

one day cover arranged via www.tempcover.com

this is part of the general terms, which I though was intereresting

so if you are a car mechanic, or car finance bod, or sports coach etc... you're buggered

I used Tempcover for an old Mondeo for 4 hours (long story). Premium was £8 but Confused.com added £11 for themselves......
