So just a question about how to process a claim....
Yesterday we drove a 8 hour round trip to Ackworth to buy a Suzuki car, sub 23k miles and immaculate for my Mrs. Couldn't fault the car or the main dealers and they even organised 5 day free insurance to drive home, this morning we insured the car to start as the Suzuki one ends.....this afternoon we parked in the huge carpark at the local Ludlow Homecare carpark and a guy drove straight in and puts a crease in the rear wing.
Anyway I was just walking into the carpark and the Mrs in tears and the guy is very apologetic and admits full responsibility, half an hour later we have been contacted by the NFU to say it's all in hand....so do we have to contact our insurance if it is all being sorted or do we ask the bloke to repair it?
The damage is light but it's a sort of perlescent paint which could be hard to match so could be very expensive. I'm just worried that this is us making a claim and it could change our insurance or is it nothing to do with our company?
Very distressed girl here so any help appreciated.

Assuming NFU are the third party’s insurer and he’s admitted full liability, then I’d deal exclusively with them and have them pay for a full repair via an authorised Suzuki repair agent, not some backstreet bucket shop.

As regards Mrs J, it’s only plastic and metal. Nobody was hurt and it happens every minute of every day of every month of every year.

I had a ding with a NFU driver, (there fault)

NFU were on the phone to me withing 30 mins admitting laibility (it was a rear end punt - she drove into me)

They offered to collect the car asap etc

I asked them to give me time to contact my insurer to let them know what had happened, and that was it

Cant fault NFU, shame they didn't offer competitive car insurance for me though

You will need to inform your insurer. This is a condition of your contract. They will note the 3rd party is dealing with the matter but this is likely to affect your future premiums as you will be perceived as a higher risk due to the no fault incident.

Check the wording of your policy, most companies require you to advise of the incident regardless of blame, they will also be able to see the incident in time on the MIB portal that all insurers use to register claims & losses.

Thank you, I think that about covers it all, we will ring Suzuki insurance tomorrow and inform them and also the new company which doesn't start for 4 days just for clarity and so it doesn't come back and bite us later and let the NFU seal with it all, they have a branch in town too.....I hope it doesn't hike the premium too much.
There is a Suzuki dealership in town, which is part of the reason to buy one, as if they service it every year we get a full warranty up to 2029, not bad for a 2019 second hand car.
Much appreciation to you all, the help here is incredible....🙏
