I have 2 fog lights wired up to my ezcan gen 1 and they generally work really well. Each wired to a separate channel (orange and red I think iirc).

Sometimes one of the lights (usually the right side) switches off whilst the other stays on. I understand that keeping finger on indicator cancel toggles left light on and off and I've read that quickly pressing indicator cancel 3 times should toggle right light on and off.....but it doesn't!

The only way I seem to be able to get it to turn on again is by plugging the laptop in and setting it through theHex software. Less than ideal.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Can you swap the wiring over at the hex unit to prove if it's the unit or wiring/spot that's faulty. Can you also change just the spots over which will prove if it's the spot or not

Have tried this. Spots work on both channels. So holding indictator in will switch both spots on/off both channels.

And as I say. Plugging laptop in to the ezcan and turning the channel back on again fixes the problem.

Am tempted to take them up on their upgrade offer!

Hi Abermarc

Apologies for the delay here. With intermittent power loss, the best course of action was already suggested by littlede, but you mentioned that both work when it's swapped around. You might need a longer test time frame to confirm whether the problem follows the light or the or the channel, i.e. the working light on the other output goes off from time to time, while the light exhibiting the issue remains on without issues.

With Gen I devices, generally a restore to defaults has some positive results on most strange issues like this, so I would suggest that as well.

Regarding the toggling of the lights, with a Gen I there is only 1 configurable aux light option, so you will always use the long press of the turn signal button to turn them off. Note however, that you can turn them back on with the same process. Perhaps for a test if the light goes out, you can turn them off and on again without connecting to the laptop to see whether this resolves the light.

The triple click of the turn signal button is for the aux 2 lights configuration, this is a feature of the Gen II ezCANs.

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions or findings, the upgrade program is quite a large amount of discount, we've opted to run this to rewards the early adopters and of course give them the opportunity to get all the new features of the Gen II at a decent price.

Kind regards

Hey Hex Support, apologies I also missed your reply! Thanks though, that's very useful.

I revisited this post because I think I've noticed that the one light seems to not come back on after bike has been turned off and the lights have been used for some time, especially when on the main beam.

How long is the upgrade offer running for?

Thanks again for the reply.

Also, upgrade offer is $100 off a gen 2. Looks like that equates to around 78 gpb and a new devices is 204 GBP (in UK). So actual cost of a new gen 2 device using the upgrade offer is £126.

Anyone able to confirm if I've got that right?

Hi Abermarc

The upgrade offer will be running indefinitely (basically until all the Gen I devices that are still active has been upgraded). The purpose of this campaign is to allow everyone the opportunity to get the Gen II devices, as we'd like to stop the support for the Gen I devices on our software.

Depending on the exchange rate on the day of the request being completed on our side, the dollar discount is converted to GBP.

Kind regards and enjoy the festive season

Thats good to know, thanks for that.

I've reset to defaults and am trying that just now to see how I get on. If still no joy then I'll bite the bullet and get the Gen 2.
