One man, one night - travelling light.

After Burnham Market the next delight in tis surprising honeypot of loveliness was Holkham Hall and it's pretty little village. I don't know this area at all and it's proving to be worth a few days next time to have a proper poke around. 20230627_170052.jpg

Theoretically Norfolk but I'm pretty sure I've left my tent pegs at home so it could be a case of there and back to see how far it is.
That’s nothing, I got all the way to the campsite at Val D’Isere before realising I’d left my tent pegs on my bench in my workshop at home after cleaning them. :blast Me and the ex stayed at a hotel the first night so I didn’t realise.:D In the end I used screwdrivers, pens, tyre levers etc. She wasn’t amused. Tried to find a camping type shop to buy some the next day but all I could find was a couple of packs of stainless steel BBQ skewers!:thumb2 They worked perfectly for the remainder of our trip and I still have them.:thumb2

Turns out I was worrying without reason, apologies for causing you unnecessary angst David. Tent pegs all present and correct, no need for stones, pens, tyre levers and the like but all noted with thanks for next time when I'll smugly be assured to remember them, until I arrive and realise I haven't.

My allocated pitch was alongside this set up, they obviously group all the hoodlums together.
The owner is a German who kindly offered to help with my tent as soon as I got off the bike - I should have brought the tarp after all. He's here on holiday with his wife.20230627_181916.jpg

Luckily the rain held off until I'd finished pitching the tent but started soon after so rather than the gentle meander I'd planned it was a quick 2 minute ride into Wells-next-the-Sea for haddock and chips - or so I thought. Into the 1st chippy with a restaurant attached and I was shown upstairs to a fabulous corner table to enjoy the atmosphere with all the other diners. 'Sorry, no haddock, only cod' was the horrific reply when I tried to order. No haddock? Only cod? What is it with you dirty Southern bastards, cod, my arse - dirty fish.
Anyway, cod it was, and a poor effort too. The menu board said they had no small portions left. You could have fooled me. But the view from the table is lovely and I have the upstairs section to myself so it's all good.

Time for a wander round Wells before heading back for a brew. Very little signal at the site so next updates are likely to be tomorrow, InshAllah.
Sleep well my beauties.

Winding my way to Thetford this morning to have a look at the memorial, the sat nav has taken me down some lovely little roads and into Great Walsingham through some picture perfect villages.
