Luke Ming Flannigan - a few months back - was part of a high profile campaign highlighting the quashing of penalty points for well connected types.
All well & good; lending more credibility to the left leaning, free wheeling, non conformist public representative who promotes legalising cannabis & cutting turf in conservation areas; he has added a little, much needed, colour to Irish public life.
It turns out he had penalty points quashed - twice.
Leading a campaign against a corruption that you have profited from seems a little foolish or perhaps hypotrical.
Now that suprise suprise his story is gone public, he wants the points back & sure it was the Guards & the officials that made him do it!

Is he a fool?
Is he a hypocrite?
Or has he smoked too much bad turf?

Or do I judge him harshly?

It went a lot further than just motoring offences, its time that the issue of corruption was investigated

I was listening to RTE this morning and they had TD on discussing this, no idea who he was but by Christ did sound like an Erse.
He seemed to be taking the line that Ming (?) had been wronged by the Gardai in having his points waived. How very dare they?

That was Mick (tax evader) Wallace; another colourfull (pink) independent that has clawed out a vantage point on the moral high ground.
The established politicians are a venial mob - not just Finna Fail [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Lowry ].
Its another example of :potkettle

His sanctimonious victim stance took some battering on Vincent Browne's show last night. Did he look perturbed by it.....well, just a little.
Yes Gerry, you are being hard on him....don't forget...he's the victim. Others forced him to avoid the points. :blast :green gri

Another self-serving fucker milking the people's money.
The curse of fuck on them all.
Hasta La Revolucion!

Don't hold back there fella. Let it out:comfort

Poor Ming the merciless probably forgot about the points, cannabis affects the memory you know.

Well he certainly did himself no favours. Why anybody votes for people like him is completely beyond me.

He is the reason I payed the house and sceptic tank tax. With leadership like his and his colourful cronies anyone who takes his advice is fucked. Classic case of a political backlash. Wait till the next election. The campaign should be a source of much laughter. Samtoinious fool. JJH

Of all the politicians in all of the world there is only one I would actually want to vote for, unfortunately he is the Mayor of Reykjavik so sadly I can't. I did ask him to come here and run the country but he'd already posted on his facebook page for people to stop asking him to do that :blast :D

Meet Jon Gnarr

poor auld ming,do you not realise that everyone in roscommon is either a priest or a garda (its a west of Ireland thing)so he had no choice but to have the points removed,

the people of roscommon/south leitrim love to sit around of an evening smoking turf and ming was a man of the people,he would even bring enough turf for everyone to a council or election meeting,

all this does is prove that the protest vote is wasted.as soon as any of them get to the dail they start to live on a different planet and pretent to be on the same one as the rest of us,

the big mistake ming made was saying the guards were corrrupt by removing points and not saying i know because i had points removed myself.
i think it will do him a lot of harm because apart from the long hair and smig he now looks the same as micheal lowrey,c j haughey and all the other members of the dail (well apart from Enda)

.......the big mistake ming made was saying the guards were corrrupt by removing points and not saying i know because i had points removed myself...........)

I agree - had he taken the "I know what I'm talking about because it happened to me" stance he would have had credibility.
I still think he is a fool leading a crusade against the Guards knowing they had sh1t on him & not declaring that sh1t.
He looks even more foolish banging on about someone leaking the info - what did he expect.
Another independent TD, Clare Daly, also joined him in his original law & order crusade & got picked up shortly after on a possible drink driving case - coincidence or what?
Politicians have for too long gone along with the notion that you can promise all the voters that they will have more than the next voter. Its a bit like us all believing we are above average drivers or whatever.
There are no easy answers - the votors in Roscommon were promised some but they had to know that it was just a puff of smoke.
Ming was fun for a while - bring on the next snake oil salesperson. :augie

And to ad to the above, all the same politicians who ranted and raved about the glorious FF party members heading off on St Patricks day to every far flung place on earth are now themselves away on the Paddys day junket. A fucking shower of wankers the lot of them.
Ahh i feel better getting that off my chest.:blagblah

Don't know anything bout Ming, but I reckon if there were a general election tomorrow mick Wallace would be voted back in, just like Lowry was!

He looks after the locals and they will vote him back in.

The whole system is corrupt. The people will keep voting these guys back in cos these people keep the voters happy.

Irish politics is all about the village pump
If you look after your locals they will look after you.not the best national policy but that's how it works

Mick Wallace has done us out of €1.4 million. He under declared vat. If that were you or me we would be in prison! End of!

The people who re elect people like mick Wallace, Lowry etc should be lined up and shot with balls of their own shite!

I know it's how it is and I know it's not going to change but I don't like it.

That's what I meant by pump politics it's like the health centres in james Riellys area
He will be popular because he did things for his area the national should but does not come into it
An awfull lot if political minded people turned right off politics by the carry on of the last few years
The Heavey raes and Micheal lowery were a great example with the last government
