Only one fish but...

45lbs, that's a monster! How long to bring it in?
Think it was around 47lb. And to bring it in a while as I was fishing at quite a distance. Can't remember exactly.
I would say there is a bit more to it than sat in a bivvy. I've spent many days blanking trying to target specimen carp.

Fly fishing only for me nowadays. Cover miles in a day on riverbank or lake shore, none of this sitting around waiting for something to happen.
Now that the trout and salmon season is over, I'll be fly fishing for pike and perch over the winter as well as working with our Instructors Group, mainly teaching kids and beginners at various Angling Clubs .
Big event this weekend - The Irish Fly Fair in Enniskillen and I'm running the Youth Fly Tying Competition, aimed at getting youngsters into the sport.

Another hour on a local river this pm
Fishing really well, 8 Brown Trout landed & 3 lost. Thought the river might have been a bit too high, but turned out great.
All caught on the upstream cast over roughly 200 yards of bank

Fantastic 😍

I'm on the lookout for a travel spinning rod at the moment.

Got mine in a local tackle shop Robbi - went there on the bike to make sure it fitted into the pannier.
It's a Shakespear

A great all rounder.

Rigged and Ready do travel rods.

Yes, I've been looking at that range, it looks very good. I need to do more research 👍 thanks for the link 🍻

Saw one in Decathlon last week, 6.5 foot complete with reel - about 30 quid. Couple of spinners in a wee box as well. No idea what it's like, was cable tied to the pack so couldn't have a wiggle

Many thanks, I might just pop in there on Saturday 👍

Have a look at the Gamakatsu Akilas range. I have two of them, a 9ft 15-40g and the 8ft 5-30g. They fit on the bike perfectly, the red case is the rod. There is only an inch or so between them when taken down. The 8ft fits in the pannier on the V-Strom - JUST!
