So I've done my valve clearances (amongst other things) today. On doing things up after it was all finished, the lower front nut on the cylinder cover for the left pot is doing the round-and-round-but-not-get-tight thing. Bugger

Running the bike for 15 mins this afternoon, it hasn't leaked oil. Yet. I can see a learning-how-to-use-helicoil session coming on

Helecoils are great, I have a good stock of various sizes.

Just be sure you only drill as deep as you need to - put a depth stop on the drill shank.

Before you take the helicoil route, check the thread on the bolt, I had the same problem and found the first couple of threads to be slightly damaged. I ran a dye up it and a tap down the hole (standard size) just to clear the thread and it worked. May be worth a try first
