It appears I've just bought a 'broken' 1100 gearbox

I put a low offer in on a '94 gearbox being offered by an ebay breaker with an unspecified 'gearbox or clutch knock' and won it . It was advertised as coming off a running bike with all gears selecting fine.

I guess it's probably got the usual 94 skipping gear issue but I figure it's an insurance policy against mine needing parts in the future (or perhaps I could get it rebuilt...). The casing is in good condition and Motorworks want more that paid for the box for a single used input shaft.

Now I've just got to find somewhere to put it

Good insurance and if you overhaul it you are pretty much guaranteed that your existing box will not fail, I use the same principle with my spare FD bearing and seal

Thats why all is hunky dory, keep the spares handy and you will have no trouble, if you flogged either the spare box or FD you would need em within a month, its soddes law.
