So here's the thing

I dropped the oil yesterday in preparation for me to point the GS big north Scotland for a trip next weekend

Once refilled I went to empty the used stuff into my old oil bowser and was greeted by the sight of the crush washer :blast

So will it be OK, or do I need to drop the new oil and fit the crush washer?

It's wasn't leaking when I did the post oil change engine run up check

Whadayathink? :nenau

If it was me I'd undo the drain plug, stick me finger over the hole, slip the new crush washer on and quickly replace it again. You could even catch any oil (you will lose some) in a clean container and put it back in.
Depends what value you put on peace of mind 👍

Take the tank off, Lie the bike as far over as you can = right over onto a pillow or similar undo drain bolt and fit washer.

Alternatively empty new oil into a clean container ensuring no contaminants fall in. Re-fill.

Don't refit it and then let us know how you get on during the trip so we can have some real experience / advice . :augie

Seriously fit a NEW one :thumb

Thanks Gents

:D I know what the correct answer is, so I will drop as little as possible and fit a new washer :D

The ex courier in me is saying 'leave it it will be fine', but then I was immortal back then ;)
